Who Are We?

We are a youth darts team playing all our home games at Moreton Hall Community Centre, Bury St. Edmunds. Our team is one of five Moreton Hall darts teams. We have a unique ethos over other teams in Suffolk, our ethos is to encourage young 'Ladz' into darts. Our motto is 'sit juveni prosperabúntur' which is Latin for 'let the youth prosper'. This shows in our teams, with the majority of players being under the age of 21. This is a well-respected trait that is recognised and respected by other teams who are typically men's teams. This strategy we believe will lead to a strong team spirit and long-term stability as the 'Ladz' grow up. The team was founded by visionary captain Benjamin Francis in July 2013. Ben has used his contacts to encourage 'Ladz' to join the team either through school or various clubs.

Our Competition History

Playing under one original squad we played in the Bury Interclub Darts League for the 2013-2014 winter season which ran from September to April. We finished the 2013-2014 season playing 16 league games and 2 friendly matches. Our record was: played 16 - won 0 - lost 16 - for 28 - against 116. We won the wooden spoon having set the worst record ever for this competition. Even though we lost all league fixtures we managed to progress to the semi-finals in cup competitions such as; Captains Cup, President Pairs, Hospice Fours and the 5 Pairs. After the continued development of the team and the interest of new players wanting to join - we created two new teams for the 2014 Summer Sixes Charity Darts League. Both teams were entered into Division Four. Benjamin Francis captained Ladz Youth and William Pottle captained Ladz Academy for this season. Ladz Youth finished the season in sixth place with 13 points, two wins, seven draws, five loses and a final difference of -12. Ladz Academy also finished with 13 points, four wins, one draw, nine loses but finished just below in seventh place with a final difference of -16. We continued with two separate teams for the following Bury Interclub Darts League 2014-2015 season, although team names were swapped. Ladz Academy was now captained by Benjamin Francis with Ladz Youth being captained by William Pottle. This season showed a marked improvement in results on the last winter season. Ladz Academy finished sixth with 9 wins and 9 losses, narrowly missing out on fourth place on legs difference. Ladz Youth finished in last place, also only on points difference, despite winning four fixtures. Ladz Youth won the wooden spoon. Morgan Smith took the league by storm; winning the league's Ton Plus and Most 180's trophies on Finals night. The Ladz Academy Fours team; George Bishop, Morgan Smith, Brandon Hurrell & Kevin Francis also celebrated success by beating Moreton Hall IC in the final to clinch the first ever Ladz title. To see all results from this season please our Bury Interclub Darts League Results 2014-2015 page

Again continuing with two separate teams we entered the 2015 edition of the Summer Sixes Charity Darts League. Ladz Academy was, again, captained by Benjamin Francis and Ladz Youth was, again, captained by William Pottle. Both our teams remained in Division Four. During this season a number of our players had gained interests away from the game and subsequently had lost a little interest. Ladz Youth would struggle to fulfil a few fixtures whilst Ladz Academy recruited experienced darts old timers Kevin Waspe and Neville Baker to help nature through the most promising talent. Ladz Academy saw a significant upturn in results and enjoyed a successful season winning the Division 4 & Knockout Cup double on Friday 18th September 2015. Ladz Youth endured a difficult season finishing in sixth place in Division Four. To see all results from this season please our Summer Sixes Results 2015 page

We re-formed into one super team for the Bury Interclub Darts League 2015-2016 season with Benjamin Francis resuming captaining responsibilities. Ben was also apointed onto the Sub-Committee to aid in the operation of the league. It was an unlucky season losing six matches narrowly 5-4 and three games 6-3. Subsequently, the Ladz finished bottom of Division 1 having won only two games during the season. We enjoyed a superb cup run to the final of the '7 Singles Cup'. A comprehensive 6-1 victory over The Gym and a competitive 4-3 encounter against the Glad Abbot in the semi-final were the most memorable highlights. George Bishop enjoyed a standout season scoring the most ton pluses (x27), a 16 dart leg and the most league victories (x22) in Division 1. George was also recognised by his team-mates, winning both the Players' Player of the Season as well as Captains Player of the Season awards. Having gained promotion in 2015, the Ladz were entered into Division Three for the 2016 Summer Sixes season. This proved a struggle as the team were unable to pick up any points during the entire season.  However, it was a extremely successful season of fundraising with the team raising our largest amount to date - helping Clic-Sargent to support local children with cancer. For all the stats of this season please visit our stats page.

The Bury Darts League was subject to major changes for the 2016-2017 season. These changes were to the tournament calendar, competition rules and naming rights. The Ladz were unable to advance in the new team cup format and narrowly finished in eigth in Division Two. However, team members Benjamin Francis and George Bishop experienced successful individual campaigns. Ben reached the semi-finals of the Random Pairs and the final of the Open Singles, having edged out George in the semi-finals. George would go on to dominate the players end of season awards with the most wins and the highest checkout.

On the 15th March it was announced the team would enter a 'hiatus' period. During this time Benjamin Francis, George Bishop and Sean Ellinor would represent Moreton Hall C in the 2017 Summer Sixes season. Other committed Ladz players would go on to form Moreton Hall Troopers - a new darts team for the 2017-2018 Bury Darts League season.

When the Ladz have a break in the league schedule we host our own Players' Knockout Tournament. This includes all registered Ladz players as well as special invitational players. To see previous winners please view our Ladz Players' Knockout Results page.
