Darts team to take summer hiatus

 

I can confirm recent rumours that the Moreton Hall Ladz darts team will be taking a summer hiatus.

 

I shall attend the Summer Sixes Charity Darts League meeting this Thursday evening at 20:00 to make league representatives aware of this decision. Although unconfirmed, it is estimated this season will last from late May to early September.

 

It is with regret I have reached to my decision after much deliberation.  This is based on a number of factors which include; declining interest & squad size, our heavy reliance on a few key players’ availability, players’ personal commitments and many booked holidays during summer months.

 

On a personal note, I wish to continue playing and I will look for a new challenge during this summer hiatus. I feel it may be a benefit to me during this time that I can focus purely on my game, spending more time practicing than worrying about organising responsibilities.

 

Running this darts team is a great way to ensure a regular social gathering for my friends, I hope we can all remain in regular contact during this time.

 

This hiatus in no way affects my position on the committee of the Bury Darts League.

 

I’d like to further clarify this is a hiatus and not the end of the road. I shall be looking to resume and enter a team into the Bury Darts League for the winter season 2017-2018. I will be approaching all team members during August to determine their overall interest. This will be the basis for my decision whether or not to enter a team into the BDL for the 2017-2018 season.

 

I will ensure we honour our remaining commitments for the remaining part of this Bury Darts League season. Our only remaining league fixture is at home to Newbury A on the 31st March. I hope to encourage a full squad for this game in recognition of what has been a thrilling non-stop ride since we started in July 2013. I will also be promoting this year’s Division 2 Open Singles to our players and hope for a strong attendance.
