William Kingston Named Ladz Vice Captain
Benjamin Francis Thursday 13th June 2013
William Kingston has been officially named 'Ladz' vice-captain today. William has great enthusiasm, he has a sharing nature, he is respectful to players and helps in every way he can. William is also authoritative, inspirational and encouraging from his experience as a rugby player. This I believe makes him the best candidate for the vice-captain role. William will have to take on captain responsibilities should myself and my dad not be attendance at any darts nights. This will mean he would have to organise the team and sort arrangements with the team captain of the opposing team.

Kurtis, Harry & Mike Leave Moreton Hall Ladz
Benjamin Francis Thursday 13th June 2013
Today Kurtis Bevan has officially confirmed he will not be partaking in any Moreton Hall Ladz fixtures due to family arrangements that require him to visit his father on Friday nights. Kurtis will be missed as he is a good friend to all players in the Moreton Hall Ladz team. Speaking on his departure Kurtis had this to say "Sorry to say that I couldn't play for the ladz, but unfortunately I have family arrangements. I do not want to pay £5 towards something I may not be part of. It looks like you have a good team and could give a few teams a good game. Good Luck in the league"
Michael Farrant also leaves the Moreton Hall Ladz.
Harry Gathercole also leaves Moreton Hall Ladz due to family arrangements on match nights.

Moreton Hall Ladz Signed Up to the Bury Interclub Darts League
Benjamin Francis Tuesday 6th August 2013
Ahead of the new darting season the Bury Interclub Darts League had an evening session in which to register teams to the league. A team form needed to be completed and team registration fee needed to be paid. The session also gave teams the opportunity to sign up their players names and pay the players fees. Moreton Hall Ladz has signed up the team and all current players. The Moreton Hall Ladz fees have been paid out from the balance of £60.00 collected from £5 per player earlier in the season. The session did not take long. Captain Benjamin Francis handed the league officials a copy of the shirt design, all website links and social media links. The league officials were very impressed with one even saying "I wish our captain did all this". Once all the documents and fees were logged the officials issued a receipt, which captain Benjamin Francis has kept as a record.

Morgan Smith Promoted To Ladz Vice Captain
Benjamin Francis Friday 23rd August 2013
Morgan Smith has been officially named 'Ladz' vice-captain today. Morgan has great enthusiasm in wanting to improve his game, having been to most practice sessions. Morgan is also very active in helping out wherever he can helping set-up and run social media accounts, with his track record of handling captaincy roles in sports such as basketball. Morgan is an ideal back up captain. Morgan joins William Kingston as vice-captain to combine their skills to help out team captains Benjamin & Kevin Francis. William is authoritative, inspirational and has a role encouraging the team, he also has responsibilities in collecting money (treasurer) and organising draw of players. William lives in Ingham which is making it increasing hard for him to attend practice regularly highlighting the need for a local vice-captain, although Morgan does camping some Fridays. Morgan will have responsibilities as well as social media such as scoring/chalking games and also organising draw of players, as more of an 'active role'.
William & Morgan will have to take on captain responsibilities should Ben & Kevin Francis not be attendance at any darts nights. This will mean he would have to organise the team and sort arrangements with the team captain of the opposing team.

First Division Fixtures Announced
Benjamin Francis Tuesday 27th August 2013
With exactly one month to go until the start of the season the fixtures for the Bury Interclub Darts League has been revealed on the BIDL website and fixtures page.
As expected Moreton Hall Ladz has been placed in first division along with eight other teams. Joining the 'ladz' in first division are; British Sugar A, Westbury, Moreton Hall 'C', 'IC', Bury Town 'B', Glad Abbot, St Edmunds 'RC' and Newbury 'B'. Moreton Hall Ladz will play each team home and away in a total of 16 in the league season. The 'ladz' will play at their home venue of Moreton Hall Community Centre a total of 10 times with six games at away venues in the Bury St Edmunds area.
Venues of the teams are yet to be confirmed by league officials but by inference we can say that the furthest fixture is at Westbury Community Centre, 5.0 miles from the MHCC. The Newbury Community Centre is another car journey away being 4.2 miles from Moreton Hall Community Centre. The Glad Abbot is 3.6 miles from the MHCC and St Edmunds 'RC' Church is 2.1 miles away. Don't panic there are short away trips of 1.6 miles to Bury Town 'B' and 1.8 miles to British Sugar 'A'.
The first fixture to be played is away to British Sugar A on Friday 27th September. The 'ladz' then receive a week off* on Friday 4th October before returning to play four home fixtures in a row on the; 11th, 18, 25th October *and 15th November. The 'ladz' then hit the road three week in a row from 22nd November until 6th December. The holiday break* breaks up the fixtures before returning on the 3rd January 2014 with the 'ladz' at home. Another weak off on the 10th January* is followed by an away trip to Newbury B, then a home fixture against MH 'IC.' Then it's a home game against Moreton Hall 'C' on the 14th February. Then Westbury away on the 21st. The 'ladz' return home from March 14th - 28th. *There is a finals nights on 25th April if the team wins any trophies.

Dart Friendly Announced vs. Moreton Hall Academy
Benjamin Francis Tuesday 27th August 2013
Moreton Hall Ladz will finish their pre-season with a tricky challenge against Premier Division side Moreton Hall Academy. Although both teams are at the home venue of Moreton Hall Community Centre it will be the Moreton Hall Ladz that have home status. This means the 'ladz' will have to practice their chalking, raise money for food and will have thrown in even legs.
The friendly game will be played on Friday 20th September an hour earlier than league fixtures. All players must be present for 7:00pm and the draw will take place 7:30pm.

Remaining Practice Sessions Cancelled
Benjamin Francis Wednesday 28th August 2013

The remaining sessions on Friday 30th August and Friday 6th September will not take place.
The next Moreton Hall Ladz gathering will be at the shirt presentation on Friday 13th September after this the season will begin.

Benjamin Francis Wednesday 18th September 2013
George Bishop won the recent knockout tournament during the ladz dart shirt presentation session. Out of a field of 12 players George rose to the top with darts new boy Ryan Amps defeating a tough draw to reach the final. On route to the final George Bishop overcame; Ryan Simon in the last 16, Morgan Smith in the Quarter Finals and then was the lucky one to receive a 'bye' in his semi-final to the final. Ryan however overcame Bury Darts League heavyweights Jack 'The Power' Taylor in the last 16 and Sean 'The Sheep' Ellinor in the quarters before beating Benjamin Francis in the semi-finals. Ryan was ultimately beaten by George's impressive setting up of finishes with Ryan sitting on a two dart checkout, George came down from a score of 193 in six dart to win the match. George Bishop received a MHCC chicken burger and chips which loosing players had no problem helping him finish.

Losing to 'Sugar' Leaves Bitter Taste
Benjamin Francis Sunday 29th September 2013
Moreton Hall Ladz have started their First Division campaign with 9-0 trashing away at the hands of British Sugar A. The draw was made by William Kingston who chose; Benjamin Francis, Ryan Amps, Sean Ellinor, Kevin Francis, George Bishop as well as himself to play singles. William drew the remaining players; Morgan Smith, Jack Taylor, Ryan Simon, William Pottle, Kurtis Bevan, William Kingston (2) into the doubles matches.
The first singles game saw Benjamin Francis comfortably beaten 2-0 by S. Buckmaster. The next singles game was William Kingston who clinically hit his double but lost 2-1 to C. Pratt. Ryan Amps was his consistent self, producing an assured display to be edged out 2-1 by R. Clarke. The first doubles game saw Morgan Smith & Jack Taylor play family duo J & S Buckmaster, with the 'sugar' duo sealing a 2-0 win. Ryan Simon was drawn to partner William Pottle. The pair played J. Wingrove and R. Clarke. The missed doubles gave the 'ladz' the chance at double but the pair ultimately lost 2-0. Ryan Simon produced a shot of Bull-T18-S6 to get the first 106+ in the team, a 110 score! Kurtis Bevan made his first appearance for Moreton Hall Ladz and partnered W. Kingston to play P. Catchpole and K. Bryant, the 'ladz went 6-0 down after another 2-0 loss. The next round of singles saw Sean Ellinor push P. Catchpole all the way ultimately losing 2-1. Kevin Francis also caught the first game nerves as he lost 2-0 to J. Wingrove. The last game of the night was George Bishop who got no mercy from K. Bryant and lost 2-0. After all games had finished the food was shared by the teams who congratulated a good evening of darts. The match night ended around 23:20.
The final score was 9-0 to British Sugar and 18 - 3 in terms of legs won.

Moreton Hall Ladz Loose Friendly 8-1
Benjamin Francis Saturday 21st September 2013
Moreton Hall Ladz ended their pre-season with a 8-1 loss over Moreton Hall Academy who play a league higher than Moreton Hall Ladz. Despite the loss the 'ladz' remain upbeat and confident ahead of the new season. With the games played to league rules nine games were played from the draw made by vice-captains William Kingston & Morgan Smith at the start. The first singles game saw Ryan Amps play 'Jimbo' a super league player, Ryan lost 2-0. Next single was Morgan Smith who played his good friend Jack Langston, Jack triumphed 2-1. Sean Ellinor played Daniel Langston, Dan won 2-0. The first doubles game saw William Kingston & Jack Taylor play Dan Goldsmith & 'Jimbo', with the Academy duo trying exhibition shots William Kingston pounced to score 100 and get the double 16 to steal the second leg. The pair ultimately lost 2-1. William Pottle & Benjamin Francis lost 2-0 to Jack Langston & Chris Allen. Morgan Smith & Ryan Simon lost their pairs game 2-0. In the next round of singles Ryan Amps took Dan Goldsmith all the way but lost 2-1. Next up was the main man George Bishop with the score at 7-0 to the Academy, players hoped George would be the first player to win a game. As Chris Allen poured on the scoring George was equal to it but lost the first leg. George responded to take him to the second leg only to lose in the last leg, so 8-0 to the academy. Last up was 'ladz' captain Benjamin Francis who produced one of his better displays in recent times to beat S. Howard 2-0 hitting 6 scores of 80+ and landing the final double after completing a comeback in the second leg.
The final score was 8-1 to Moreton Hall Academy and 16 - 6 in terms of legs won.

Hospice Fours To Be Entered: Friday 13th December
Benjamin Francis Sunday 20th October 2013
Background & Information
The Hospice Fours which is to be played on Friday 13th December 2013.
"The format is that a team (of four) is drawn at one of four venues. The entire match is best of 7 (first to 4 wins) this consists of one four (901), two pairs (701) and four singles (501), all one leg. It's a short format and good fun, there will be four venues with about 6 teams at each. We play down to a winner at each venue and the 4 winning teams play off at finals night (25.04.14) I hope you can enter at least one team of four. It would be good experience for the ladz and as its only one leg you have a good chance of winning. Its £5 per team and all money goes to charity at the end of the season" Paul Nicholls
For further details read rule 6.7.

Ladz Loose The Moreton Hall Derby 8-1 To IC
Benjamin Francis Sunday 20th October 2013
We played on Friday night against Moreton IC it was another difficult game with the final score being 1-8 to the IC. With five games lost 2-1 (three from winning positions). I believe by the time we play this team again (24.01.14) we can have a much closer game and can win. I believe we need to learn how to close games out (myself included).

Moreton Hall Ladz Loose To Newbury B 7-2
Benjamin Francis Sunday 13th October 2013
We played a very good game on Friday night against Newbury B and we were very unlucky with the final score of 7-2. With three games lost 2-1 (two of them we were 1-0 up) we could have won 5-4 on another day. I believe by the time we play this team again (17.01.14) we should be targeting a win. At the end of the day if you don't get your doubles you don't win the game and we shall continue our around the world doubles before each game.
I would like to congratulate all players who attended, as well as:
-

Ladz Loose Another Moreton Hall Derby 8-1 To C
Benjamin Francis Sunday 27th October 2013
We played on Friday night against Moreton C and lost 8-1. With two of nine games lost 2-1. We probably didn't play as well as we have done in the last two fixtures. We had a slight disadvantage as they had match board practice before the game. The opposing captain said we may need to slow down, keep calm and switch to 19s in order to achieve higher/ more consistent scores. As I've said before it's all about learning building small steps and by the time we play this team again (14/02/14) we knows the standard required.
There have been some comments about us not playing our best players in singles. I believe all players should have the chance at singles as all players want to play singles and have their moment. Other teams in our league turn up with their 6 best players every week so we can be assured of a tough game whoever plays. As we have a large squad I will continue to rotate the singles per game. I make the decision based on appearances (for team & singles), form and commitment.
I would like to congratulate all players who attended, as well as:
-
Ryan Amps hitting scores of 120 & 121 in his singles
-
William Pottle hitting a score of 112 in his singles game
-
William Pottle winning a leg (to take it to a deciding leg) in his singles game
-
Ryan Simon scoring 127 (T20-T18-13)
-
Morgan Smith for being the only player to win a game (2-1) with good finishing
-
Morgan Smith for organising the draw
I remind players that if you achieve the targets set fill the in the date and set yourself a harder target in the row below.
I believe the following players achieved a target last night:
-
WILLIAM POTTLE: Winning a leg (hitting a double)

"Tub-Tub" Signs For The Ladz
Benjamin Francis Thursday 21st November 2013
Today at 3:30 PM the Bury Interclub Dart league have confirmed the signing of Thomas Wright to the Moreton Hall Ladz dart team. Tom joins as the 14th player to be registered to the Moreton Hall Ladz squad. Tom is now eligible for all first division games to the end of the season. Tom (16), nicknamed "Tub-Tub" joins the ladz whom he knows from his school, King Edward VI Upper School. Tom has been only recently started playing darts in the last few weeks.
Speaking about the arrival of Tom Wright, captain Benjamin Francis had this to say "Tom has shown great desire to improve his game and has seen his game improve while practising with ladz players, weeknights at the Moreton Hall Community Centre. He now feels it is time to test himself in game situations. I believe Tom will bring humour and boost the already excitable mood on match nights. I wish Tom every success"
Tom like all previous ladz players has been given a players' information pack with personal targets & fixtures. Tom has yet to have a ladz team shirt as his size needs to be ordered. His draw card has been made and issued to vice-captains. Tom will make his debut appearance in a singles game when the ladz travel to Glad Abbot tomorrow night.

Alex Walters Signs For The Ladz
Benjamin Francis Thursday 21st November 2013
Today at 3:30 PM the Bury Interclub Dart league have confirmed the signing of Alex Walters to the Moreton Hall Ladz dart team. Alex joins as the 15th player to be registered to the Moreton Hall Ladz squad. Alex is now eligible for all first division games to the end of the season. Alex (15) joins the ladz whom he knows from his school, King Edward VI Upper School. Alex has been only recently started playing darts in the last few weeks.
Speaking about the arrival of Alex, captain Benjamin Francis had this to say "I don't really know too much about Alex as yet. One thing I can say is that he appears to have potential in becoming a good darts player from what I've seen of him in practice. I know Alex is a good football player and if this ability transfers to darts we will have a very dangerous player in the ladz squad. I wish Alex every success in our team"
Alex like all previous ladz players has been given a players' information pack and a medium (40") dye sublimated ladz shirt. His draw card has been made and issued to vice-captains. Alex will make his debut appearance in a doubles game when the ladz travel to Glad Abbot tomorrow night.

Ladz Give Good Impression Against High Fliers
Benjamin Francis Sunday 17th November 2013
Friday night was an eventful night and possibly the most entertaining so far. Westbury turned up just in time and delayed the game by 20 minutes. This team are top of the league don't forget, but to me didn't look anything special or any better than other teams we have played. They won 7-2 and probably deserved to, but I believe all players had the chance to win (even if only one dart at double). I can see an improve in everyone's game even if you can't see it yourself. I believe by my rotation policy the standard throughout the team is rising as players know the standard for singles and their partners game in doubles.
I hope our development will continue and I would like players to work on setting up favourite doubles coming down from 100. For practice see how many times you can check out on 101 in under 9 darts on your favourite doubles. I highly recommend making doubles 16, 8, 4, 2 and 1 the focus of your practice.
I would like to congratulate all players who attended, as well as:
-
George Bishop & Jack Taylor for winning a leg.
-
Ryan Amps & Benjamin Francis hitting under <39 dart legs and winning 2-0
-
Kevin Francis for going 1-0 in his singles
-
William Pottle winning a leg
New Feature: Man-Of-The-Moment
-
Ben Cole for making an impressive debut winning 2-0 in singles (second leg very high standard)
I remind players that if you achieve the targets set fill the in the date and set yourself a harder target in the row below. I believe the following players achieved a target last night:
-
BEN COLE: Winning a leg (hitting a double)
-
KEVIN FRANCIS: Followed up 80+ with another score of 80+

George Bishop Wins Again!
Benjamin Francis Sunday 10th November 2013
Summary
We played a knockout tournament on Friday night with 12 players. I think this tournament proved to be successful. I believe the format worked well with a few underdogs having the opportunity to progress and develop their game & confidence. The timings were also spot on with our tournament finishing before the evenings games. I would also like to take the opportunity to thank all players who helped out with scoring, chalking & recording games after they had been knocked out. Perhaps if we did it again we would try and fill the tournament to 16 to make the first round more exciting and engaging for all. Or we could have group stages with players progressing from both to play in a winners group or knockout stage.
I would like to congratulate all players who attended:
Winner: George Bishop
Runner-Up: Benjamin Francis
Losing Semi-Finalists: Jack Taylor or William Pottle
Losing Quarter-Finalists: Morgan Smith, Ryan Simon, Kevin Francis, Kurtis Bevan
First Round Losers: William Kingston, Michael Farrant, Sean Ellinor, Ryan Amps
Videos
As many of you are aware Kurtis Bevan shot match footage of three games on Friday:
-
Sean Ellinor vs. Ryan Simon
-
Kurtis Bevan vs. Benjamin Francis
-

Ladz Loose 7-2 To Bury Town B & 7-0 To Glad Abbot
Benjamin Francis Sunday 8th December 2013
This week we played away at both Bury Town B and Glad Abbot. This allowed players to have more of a game. At Bury Town B the game was played to the league rules with each player (except K. Francis) playing singles & doubles. Whereas at Glad Abbot they played 7 singles each best of 5.
Glad Abbot 7 - 0 Morton Hall Ladz (7 singles friendly)
-
Ryan Simon, Alex Walters, Sean Ellinor, Tom Wright, Jack Taylor all lost 3-1
-
Ben Cole, William Pottle lost 3-0
-
Ben Cole hit a 116 and Jack Taylor hit a 120
Bury Town B 7 - 2 Moreton Hall Ladz
Bury Town had two games on this night B played us and A played MH Academy, so Moreton Hall had an away support. The game started well after first three singles with Ben loosing 2-1, Morgan winning 2-0 (against 10 year old, Alfie Duncan) and Ryan winning 2-1. At this point we realised we had our joint best result and believed we could beat it. It never came, we were close but could not get that last game.
I would like to congratulate all players @ Bury Town B, as well as:
William Kingston for making the draw
George Bishop for result card
Benjamin Francis for winning a leg in singles & doubles
Morgan Smith for winning singles 2-0, and highest checkout of 77 (in team to date)
William Kingston & George Bishop for winning a leg in doubles
Kevin Francis for stepping down to accommodate ladz players
Man-Of-The-Moment: Ryan Amps

Roman Catholics Leave Ladz Praying For Better Luck Next Time
Benjamin Francis Sunday 1st December 2013
We played away at the St Edmund's Roman Catholics on Friday and lost 8-1. This result really did not reflect the performances and effort of all of the Moreton Hall Ladz players. Our team is continuing to improve as I keep saying, but its true, now all of our players have experienced winning a leg and most (11 players) have won a game. With better luck, better counting and more experience I feel we can beat this team next time we play them at home on 21st March 2014.
The rotation policy continued somewhat this week, I picked 6 singles on performance so far this season. As we enter the second half of the season after Christmas I will work to even up the singles & doubles games of each player.
I would like to congratulate all players who attended, as well as:
Alex Walters hitting a 116, his first 106+ in the league
Alex Walters for going 1-0 up in his singles match
Benjamin Francis for winning a leg in his singles match
Ryan Simon for hitting high scores, Sean Ellinor for hitting the double in their doubles (lost 2-1)
Tom Wright for hitting a 120, his first 106+ in the league
William Pottle & Tom Wright for winning a leg in their doubles (Tom's first leg in league)
Kurtis Bevan for winning a leg
William Kingston for battling on (after injury) & making the draw
Man-Of-The-Moment: George Bishop
George Bishop winning his singles 2-0, hitting tons & his first game won of the season!

Ladz Loose to Glad Abbot 7-2
Benjamin Francis Sunday 24th November 2013
We played the Glad Abbot pub on Friday night in a hospitable and friendly atmosphere. The match finished 7-2 to Glad Abbot, our joint best result and we were close to our best result. I believe we are continuing to grow as a team and individually. We had two late pull outs from our squad (Kurtis & Morgan) but I continued my rotation policy by selecting our two new players in singles Alex & Tom. It was nice to see the support of Ryan Amps coming down to watch.
We are looking to arrange a friendly away at the Glad Abbot, more details to follow.
I would like to congratulate all players who attended, as well as:
-
William Kingston winning his singles 2-1
-
Sean Ellinor & William Pottle for winning a leg in their doubles game
-
Kevin Francis & Jack Taylor for winning a leg in their doubles game (no more said!)
-
Thomas Wright making a good impression on debut

Ladz Continue Improvement
Benjamin Francis Sunday 19th January 2014
We played away against Newbury B on Friday night. We continued our improvement during this second half of the season as last game we played against them we lost 7-2 but this time we lost 6-3. In terms of scoreline it is only marginally better than our best result. But in terms in scoring and setting up double changes is the best I remember to date. The squad we took was one of our strongest in the league so far but we still had to perform. I feel the signing of Jake Towler one hour before the game had lifted everyone's spirits and ambitions. Three of the games were 2-1 loses with Sean Ellinor's & Ryan Amps's last legs possibly the only difference between the sides.
Rotation is back in full swing for the second half the season.
Now we have 16 registered players I will chose the squad, singles & doubles players on three things;
-
Availability (saying you can play)
-
League Games Currently Played
-
Current Form
I would like to congratulate all players who attended, as well as:
-
William Kingston for making the draw
-
Ryan Amps for hitting a 131, his fifth 106+
-
Ryan Amps for winning a leg in his singles
-
Tom Wright & Alex Walters for winning a leg in their doubles
-
Jack Taylor & Kurtis Bevan for winning 2-1 in their doubles
-
Benjamin Francis for hitting 3 x100 and missing bull for a 101 checkout
-
George Bishop for hitting a 120 in his singles
-
George Bishop for winning his singles 2-1
Man-Of-The-Moment: Jake Towler
A very hard choice this week with notable performances from; Sean, Jack, George and Ryan. But I feel on his debut Jake looked clam & composed and played his best darts. I feel his signing lifted our belief we could a result which just beats others to this weeks crown.
-
Jake Towler for hitting a 132
-
Jake Towler for winning his debut singles 2-0
-
Jake Towler for hitting a 132, first 106+ in league

Man-Of-The-Moment:
Jake Towler

New Signing: Jake Towler
Players' Knockout Tournament Winner Jake Towler Signs
Benjamin Francis Friday 17th January 2014
Jake Towler, 16, winner of the recent Players' Knockout Tournament has now officially become a Moreton Hall Ladz Player. Jake who took the title just a week ago will now join up with his new team mates, starting with an away fixture at Newbury B this Friday 17th January. Jake Towler has been confirmed by the Bury Interclub Darts League on Friday 17th January at 7:00 PM, just an hour before play begins. Jake will wear the prototype spare 'ladz' top until his shirt is ordered and delivered.
Speaking on his arrival captain Benjamin Francis had this to say "It's exciting to sign Jake up, he is a player of real potential. He impressed me immensely by winning our Players' Knockout Tournament, especially the game against Brandon Hurrell. I initially was not planning to sign any more players as our squad is already fully loaded, but performances from invitational players in knockout tournaments have the potential to change and open my mind. I wish Jake every success in playing for the 'ladz' and I hope this is the catalyst for us improving on our results int he second half of the season."

Moreton Hall Ladz Players' Knockout Tournament Summary
Benjamin Francis Sunday 12th January 2014
We played a knockout tournament on Friday night with a hugely impressive attendance of 17 players. I think this tournament proved to be very successful. I believe the format worked well with a few underdogs having the opportunity to progress and develop their game & confidence. I believe all four invited players who attended made a good account of themselves. As we had 17 players we had only one preliminary game which was unfortunate for Harry Gathercole. The timings were also spot on with our tournament finishing before the evenings games. I would also like to take the opportunity to thank all players who helped out with scoring, chalking & recording games after they had been knocked out. I must say I was a little disappointed in players who did not stick around too long to support fellow team mates.
I would like to congratulate all players who attended
Winner: Jake Towler
Runner-Up: Benjamin Francis
3rd Place: Sean Ellinor
4th Place: Brandon Hurrell
Losing Quarter-Finalists: Jack Taylor, Luke Everett, William Pottle, Alex Walters
First Round Losers: Thomas Wright, George Bishop, William Kingston, Ben Cole, Kurtis Bevan, Jasper Baker, Ryan Amps, Kevin Francis
Preliminary Round: Jake Towler 1-0 Harry Gathercole

Men-Of-The-Moment:
Kevin Francis & George Bishop
Moreton Hall Ladz 1 - 8 British Sugar A
Benjamin Francis Sunday 5th January 2014
We played at home against British Sugar A on Friday and lost 8-1. British Sugar has beaten both Newbury B & Bury Town B by 8-1. This team is my favourite with Moreton Hall C to win our division and I believe we can be proud of all our performances as we improved in many aspects from last time. We won more legs this time round, we won more games, hit more 106+s and we arguably didn't have our strongest singles players.
The rotation policy was back in full swing this week as I continue to give equal chance to all players. I played the six players who have played the least singles games and many of these players impressed and will get their chance again.
I would like to congratulate all players who attended, as well as:
-
Benjamin Francis making the draw.
-

Worst Result Ever!
Benjamin Francis Sunday 23rd February 2014
Friday night was simply the worst result so far. Westbury beat us 9-0 with the ladz only winning two legs. It was clear that Westbury had the 9-0 in their minds as this result puts them second in the division table. We know they are a good team but perhaps not as good as British Sugar A or Moreton Hall C. I think they expected a lot closer game than they got due to us running them close in the 5 pairs competition. Westbury played their strongest line-up with new faces from the last league game. Some of the Ladz reached doubles but didn't take their chances. Once we were 2-0 most of our team were expecting another whitewash which subsequently made their performance worse. We need to start thinking more positively as individually we could beat most players in this league.
Meanwhile the battle for the most 106+s continued with Ryan & Ben getting close with 100 & 98 but not adding to their tally.
Jake Towler hit a 121 to take his tally up to 3.
I would like to congratulate:
William Kingston for making the draw
Morgan Smith for winning a leg
Man-Of-The-Moment: Jake Towler
He was the only player to hit a 106+ (121) and one of two players to win a leg.

Moreton Hall C Whitewash Ladz 9-0
Benjamin Francis Sunday 16th February 2014
Friday night was a disappointing result for the ladz, losing 9-0 and winning only four legs. Moreton Hall C showed their quality and subsequently have moved up to second in the league table. In my opinion British Sugar A and Moreton Hall C are the strongest teams in the league and therefore we should have no shame in losing to them. I feel the two week break since the last exciting last league game didn't help us carry on that momentum forward. Most of our players were outscored by their counterparts and even though chances appeared we didn't take them. We must forget this result and move on. On a positive note, we hit our highest total of 106+s in this game with four (Will.K, Morgan.S, Jake.T, Ben.F).
Next week we play away at third placed Westbury, the same team we were beaten by 3-1 last week. I believe we will improve on last times result of 7-2 if we improve our setting up of chances. Just think to yourself when you get under 100, how can you set it up to your favourite double.
I would like to congratulate all players who attended, as well as:
-
William Kingston for making the draw
-
William Kingston for helping with team-mates video
-
William Kingston for scoring 125 in his singles game
-
Morgan Smith & Tom Wright for winning a leg in thier doubles game
-
Jake Towler for hitting a 125 in his doubles game
-
Jake Towler & George Bishop for winning a leg in thier doubles game
-
William Pottle for winning a leg in his singles game
-
Benjamin Francis for hitting a 133 in his singles game
-
Ryan Simon for winning a leg in his singles game
Man-Of-The-Moment: Morgan Smith
Although he isolated himself from the group at the start of the fixture. Morgan came back to support the team by chalking three games, which was much appreciated. Morgan won a leg with Tom in their doubles match. Morgan also hit a 140, his first 106+. All of this with new darts! Morgan couldn't quite extend his three match win streak.

Ladz Reach Semi-Final
Benjamin Francis Sunday 9th February 2014
We continue to improve our games, performances and significantly our results. On Friday we were initially unlucky to be drawn in the only quarter final game against Newbury B, who we have lost to 6-3 and 7-2 in the league. But this didn't stop the ladz as every leg we had shots at doubles and I believed thoroughly deserved our victory. In some games we lost and we did not deserve based on our scoring. Now all but one player has experienced winning a game in league or cup action. A big congratulations to all those who made it and I feel everyone contributed to us winning our first game.
Quarter Finals: Moreton Hall Ladz 3 - 2 Newbury B
-
Sean Ellinor & Thomas Wright won 2-1
-
Jake Towler & Kurtis Bevan lost 2-1
-
Alex Walters & Benjamin Francis lost 2-1

Jack Taylor & Benjamin Francis lost 2-1
-
Jake Towler & Kurtis Bevan lost 2-1
-
Kevin Francis & Sean Ellinor lost 2-0

Man-Of-The-Moment: Thomas Wright
Impressive in practice all week and took form to game. Hit many 80+s and couple of tons and finished well. Won not only his first match but both games he played in.

Man-Of-The-Moment:
Ryan 'The Fluke' Simon
"THE BEST EVER!"
Benjamin Francis Sunday 26th January 2014
Friday night was the most enjoyable, entertaining of all our games played so far. The tension was unbearably brilliant! All players were glued to the action as Morgan took the game to a 4-4 and a final game shoot off. As Ryan Simon stepped up to the oche the nerves of the IC were plain to see, it was pressure on their shoulders, they had to beat the ladz. Ryan Simon had other ideas blistering away in the first leg getting under 200 before the IC player broke under 400. Ryan after a long period of missed doubles tried the arm technique, it went in! 1-0 to the ladz and the whole of the squad erupted! The noise and excitement spread to the rest of the club room soon near 100 people were gathered around to watch would be a close second leg. Ryan hit some solid score to which the ladz reacted overjoyed to. He got down to double 3 & 1 and wired it on multiple occasions, with the IC ready to pounce. 1-1. The Ladz still believed and so did Ryan as the IC player missed loads of darts in the final leg to wrap it up for Ryan Simon to come down to set up double 16 beautifully working his way a round the board wiring each double. The IC player eventually got one lucky dart and won the game to the ladz disappointment.
To see the action watch:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQRaW6wYdUQ
This was nearly the game! Like I've said before, "one week our 2-1 loses will turn into 2-1 wins", this happened with all our games 2-1 wins for Jake, Will.P, Ryan & Kevin, Morgan. It is still our best game to date, a score of 5-4. A vast improvement on the 8-1 from last time. Now 12 players have won a league game and the 3 that haven't have all been very close.
In terms of my mid season aims we are excelling. We have already smashed our best result! Our points difference is -11 in this second half of the season, we will definitely be under -99 by the end of the season. So new target is to get everyone to have won a game.
Rotation is back in full swing for the second half the season. This week we left out three very strong players in William Kingtson, Kurtis Bevan and George Bishop therefore one would expect a dip in performance, not so! This result proves all players are improving and a lot of players have narrowed the gap on the so called 'best players'.
I would like to congratulate all players who attended, as well as:
-
Benjamin Francis for making the draw
-
William Pottle hits 106+ (121)
-
William Pottle wins his first match in singles, 2-1 to William
-
Jake Towler continued to win in a ladz shirt, 2-1 in his singles
-
Alex Walters & Ben Cole won a leg in their doubles match
-
Ryan Amps & Kevin Francis for winning doubles 2-1
-
Kevin Francis for hitting a 106+ (125)
-
Benjamin Francis for hitting a 106+ (115)
-
Morgan Smith for winning his singles 2-1
Man-Of-The-Moment: Ryan Simon
As we won the most games this week it is extra hard with notable performances from all the team. But I feel on entertainment, courage and bottle it has to go to Ryan Simon who had the whole of Moreton Hall take time to watch. He may have lost but this is something I personally will remember for a long time, a defining moment! Thank You Ryan Simon.

Ladz Youth & Ladz Academy - Friendly Result: ?

Ladz 3 -6 Glad Abbot
Benjamin Francis Sunday 30th March 2014
The Bury Interclub Darts League (winter league) has ended for the Moreton Hall Ladz with all league games completed and nobody reaching the latter stages of the cup. We played Glad Abbot on Friday night with a final score of 6-3 in what was a close match. I believe we could have won this game with better setting up shots and doubles again. We had a lot more chances at doubles then them and could not take them. I believe if we had taken the fourth game with the chances we had, gone 3-1 up, the game would have been completely different.
I would like to congratulate all players, especially:
-
William Kingston for making the draw
-
George Bishop for chalking
-
William Pottle for chalking
-
Benjamin Francis for chalking
-
Sean Ellinor for chalking

-
Benjamin Francis for hitting a 135 in his singles match
Man-Of-The-Moment: Ryan Amps
Scored well but didn't hit any 106+ as hoped. Focused; set up and hit his doubles very well. Unlucky not to win any statistic awards having lead in most wins and league 106+s at times during the season.

Man-Of-The-Moment:
George Bishop
St Edmunds RC Game Summary
Benjamin Francis Sunday 23rd March 2014
It was clear from Friday's performance we can cut it in nearly all parts of darts - apart from the part that matters, the dreaded doubles! Having watched every game both my dad and I agree that we outscore our opponents and now even set up a double well but simply blow any chance! With all due respect to Roman Catholics they're really poor at scoring, but when it gets to double they somehow find a way and that's why there 5th in the league table. By next season we can be targeting wins against these teams.
On the positive side a 6-3 result is a significant improvement on last time's 8-1 away performance. We now have scored 25 points and conceded 110 against, leaving a difference of -85. This means we are on track to finish below -94. Remember we were on -51 half way during the season.
I would like to congratulate:
-
William Kingston for making the draw so effortlessly
-
George Bishop for chalking x2 games
-
William Pottle for chalking x2 games
-
Benjamin Francis for chalking x3 games
-
Sean Ellinor for chalking x1 game
-
Morgan Smith for chalking x1 game
-
William Kingston for hitting a 134 in his singles match
-
Ryan Amps for hitting a 108 in his singles match
-
Ryan Amps for going 1-0 up / winning a leg
-
Morgan Smith for winning his singles match 2-1
-
Morgan Smith for hitting a 132 in his singles match
-
Jake Towler for hitting a 108 in his singles match
-
Jake Towler for winning his singles match 2-1
-
Tom Wright for playing well
Man-Of-The-Moment: George Bishop
Started like Usain Bolt - hitting tons, 85s and a 125. Missed his first dart at double for what would have been a 15 (ish) dart leg. Kept the belief and consistency and finished his opponent off by a scoreline of 2-1.
Awards Update - 23/03/2014
Most League Wins
As there is only one more league fixture there is only the opportunity for each player to get 1 more win. This now makes the award restricted to just two people. If joint on wins - goes to legs won - then to ave. diff/games played
-
Morgan Smith - 5 Wins - 13 legs (-0.54)
-
George Bishop - 4 Wins -13 legs (-0.75)
Ton Plus (106+s)
It is possible for players to hit multiple 106+s in a league match but this is unlikely, so here are the front runners.
-
Ryan Amps - 6x 106+s
-
Jake Towler - 5x 106+s
Highest Out
Highest League out is currently being won by George Bishop with a 81 checkout.

Man-Of-The-Moment:
Sean Ellinor
Ladz lose 6 - 3 to Bury Town B
Benjamin Francis Sunday 16th March 2014
Friday night was a good night of darts and a game perhaps on another day we could have won. There were few occasions where Bury Town B were down to a double first but generally we had all the chances at doubles. Bury Town B, much like Westbury, arrived just about on time with us giving them the benefit of the doubt. With one player late, their best player and having to play his two games early this created confusion. Ultimately the Ladz lost 6-3 which is an improvement on the 7-2 scoreline last time out.
Looking at the league table we have now conceded 104 wins against us and scored 22 wins for us. We now have a difference of -72 meaning if we avoid consecutive 9-0 defeats we can end with a double figure value. With Roman Catholics coming next it is our best opportunity to get the win we deserve!
I would like to congratulate:
-
George Bishop for his debut draw making
-
George Bishop for impressively chalking twice
-
Morgan Smith/Benjamin Francis/Jack Taylor/William Pottle for chalking
-
Morgan Smith for coming from 1-0 down to beat a super-league player 2-1
-
George Bishop for winning a leg in his singles match
-
Jake Towler for winning 2-0 in his singles game
-
Jake Towler for hitting a 140
-
William Pottle & Jack Taylor for filling in the result card
Man-Of-The-Moment: Sean Ellinor
Very difficult choice this week with the three players winning all very impressive. Jake was very good and hit two 180s in practice. Morgan beat a superleague player. But Sean Ellinor won his first game 2-1, coming from nearly 200 behind in the final leg to steal the win. This win was richly deserved for the commitment Sean has shown throughout the year. Sean also chalked.

BIG REVEAL: Summer Sixes Teams Announced!
Benjamin Francis Friday 14th March 2014
As most of you have been discussing we are planning to enter two Ladz darts teams into the 'Summer Sixes' charity darts league. The two squads will be called (Morton Hall Ladz) Academy & Youth. This is to avoid the cliché of naming A & B teams. Players have been placed in teams based on friendship groups, travel arrangements and lastly to balance ability.
Creating two teams is a risky strategy as we only have 8 players in each squad. Hopefully the players can be committed and we can fulfill our fixtures. The smaller squad size means you will receive more game time in league fixtures. I hope to encourage some of the 'invitational players' at the next Ladz Knockout tournament to sign up as well.
As a result of raising money during the season, entry fees will be paid out of the Ladz fund.
-
Current Ladz players' will not have to pay signing up fees
I am pleases to confirm William Pottle has committed himself to becoming a Ladz captain.
I will be there to help and support him through captaining a new team.

Tournament Summaries
Benjamin Francis Sunday 9th March 2014
Friday night was chaotic with 9 teams at Westbury Community Centre and with 4 boards in play. There was four tournaments going on at the same time; the Captain's Cup, Jonathan Lee Singles, President Pairs and Brian Reeve Fours. The night began at around 8:30 PM and lasted until 11:30 for the Ladz.
Here's how we got on:
Captains Cup:
Benjamin Francis had the harder side of the draw for the Captains' Cup. Ben drew the Westbury captain Steve Bridges who he thrashed 2-0 in 21 darts and 25 darts. Ben hit many 60s and tons and hit 2 of 5 on doubles. Ben's best performance of the season so far.Ben then played Homegaurd's captain in the semi-finals who is the finals of the Open Singles & Open pairs. Ben continued his form in the first leg winning the first leg on double 5. The second leg the Homegaurd player scored very well. Ben could only set up a one dart finish then not to have any darts at it. The third was the closest with Ben looking to have the edge before a missed 152 left Ben behind on 117. Having set up double 4 the Homequard player yet again hit the double last dart in hand.
Jonathan Lee Singles:
George Bishop drew Bury Town B's player who beat him 2-0. George scored fantastically and had the player worried but George could not convert his doubles and therefore lost. After George's opponent gave him some praise and words of advice.
President Pairs:
Jack Taylor & Sean Ellinor made it through to the semi-finals by pull outs of other teams. They lost 2-1 with Sean Ellinor getting an unlucky 180 bounce out from the poor boards at Westbury.
Brian Reeve Fours:
Kurtis Bevan, Ryan Amps, Alex Walters and Tom Wright played in the quarter finals against Westbury. Westbury had two standout players who were nailing the checkouts and high scores. The Ladz got down to doubles but didn't have many chances.

Tom Wright Wins Ladz Players' Knockout Tourmanent
Benjamin Francis Friday 11th April 2014
We played a knockout tournament on Friday night with an exactly 16 players. I think this tournament proved to be very successful as the amended format proved worked well and the tournament finished before 6:00 PM. There was a slight delay in all players arriving but we scheduled around that very well indeed. I would also like to take the opportunity to thank all players who helped out with scoring and chalking games after they had been knocked out.
The draw was very exciting as the two favourites: Jake and George drawn against each other in the first round. With the top half of the draw the winner would play Morgan Smith or Benjamin Francis in the next round. This gave all players hope of progressing to the latter stages and made it up for grabs in the remaining ties.
For a copy of the draw bracket please download this link.

Ladz Youth Fightback To Claim Point
Benjamin Francis Monday 5th May 2014
Friday was a great evening of darts and general fun. True we (Ladz Youth) were the favourites to win the game and therefore it was a little disappointing not to win but I remind you we were 3-0 down at one point. We can take great encouragement for our draw and picking up a point. This is exactly the attitude we need in all games, never give up as every game counts come the end of the season. For those who lost take time to reflect on what you can improve on and put it into practice. Also to those who won think what went well and what you can improve it too.

Ladz Academy vs. Ladz Youth Re-scheduled for Friday 2nd May
Benjamin Francis Monday 21st April 2014
Our Summer Sixes game Ladz Academy vs. Ladz Youth has been re-scheduled.
The new new date is Friday 2nd May (previously Friday 27th June - Yr11 Prom).
The new date will be at the same time although we may start earlier through a Captain's agreement.
As the fixture will be the first game played of the season (across all teams), a win or a loss either way will mean one Ladz team will top the table and one will be at the bottom.

End Of Season Awards
Benjamin Francis Sunday 13th April 2014
All players thoroughly enjoyed their meals today - there was a lot of empty plates. Luckily I predicted that Ben Cole & Jake would not turn up so saved us some money to retain in the Ladz fund. Thanks to all of the players during the season in raising money through scratch card wins, knockout tournaments and accessories sold. This has made the meal and awards all possible. Both myself and William Pottle hope to continue raising money and hope to host something similar in the future.
I now can reveal the winners, who I presented with their trophy and certificate. I can also reveal the voting for Players Player and Most Improved Player. I have updated our Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and website with pictures and winners. It is hoped that an article may find it's way into the Bury Free Press if we're lucky, but I have to write it first.

Re-Signing for BIDL Winter League £2.00
Benjamin Francis Friday 25th July 2014
The preparation for the upcoming winter season is now underway. Rules have been amended between Captains and team registration to the league is on Monday 4th August.
We are looking to enter two Ladz teams on this evening, again under the names; Ladz Youth & Ladz Academy. William & I are both happy to remain in captaincy of the teams and will be your representatives at BIDL meetings.
We need responses from each player in regards to re-signing for the next season. We are currently trying to build up the Ladz fund to have sufficient funds for an end of season meal & awards for all. Thus, we are asking for a re-signing fee of £2.00 per player for next season so we don't have to take from fund.Once the fee is paid to your captain your name will be added to the squad list for the new season.
It is hoped by having smaller teams this season we can increase our competitiveness in division one.
It is likely we will have around 9 players to each team, so we should be able to enter all but one cup competition(s), the 5 pairs.
New players are always welcome as we look to encourage youth darts. For new players the procedure will remain the same i.e. a £5 Ladz sign up fee, completion of sign up form & a few pictures.
The Bury Inter-club Darts League is estimated to start on Friday 26th September. The format remains; 6 singles & 3 doubles matches, allowing us to play 6-12 players on one night. Fixtures will be released some time late August/early September once all teams have been registered.
We (Ben & Will) will be collecting re-signing fees as of this email. So get re-signed now!
Any queries do not hesitate to contact.

It Returns: Ladz Players Knockout Tournament
Benjamin Francis Friday 1st August 2014
Both captains have agreed that it would be great fun to arrange another (our fifth) Players' Knockout Tournament during our summer holiday. As we have fixtures every week until September, the decision has been taken to host the tournament before the Open Singles event on Friday 15th August. Our tournament is due to start promptly at 3:00 PM with an estimated finish of around 5:30 - 6:00 PM. This means we will not interfere with the evenings play.
Thanks to the successful running of the tournament last time most details remain unchanged. The only difference being we now have 19 registered Ladz players so the tournament may feature a preliminary round. If so both captains will enter their lowest ranked players, from both the separate Ladz teams, into the preliminary round. As we are looking to expand our team into the winter league we have advertised for some external entries in local press but stressed they must be youth darts players. We are open to entries so if you know of someone let us know.
